I agree. And a hospital most likely will not be the only essential service that will require future tax money raised from property taxes.

This essential service need certainly puts into perspective just how greedy the Valley "elites"* appear to be. Imagine if Proposition 1 passes and the hospital bond levy fails. Hopefully all the caring people have not left the Valley.

The FOP could have asked for money to repair or replace the historical Wagner Memorial Pool, but no, they wanted the whole Mega dream spa complete with a climbing gym and other amenities to keep the adults socially occupied while the children play. Then they invented the reasoning to make that fantasy dream come true. Click your heels three times, Dorothy needs a hot tub after a day of artificial climbing.

Currently I have a call into Three River Hospital to try to determine if this hospitol bond levy is a regular Levy or an excess Levy.

The auditor's office didn't have that information. They only put the measure on the ballot and can't offer legal opinions.

Yes, and on the preview ballot Ray posted, I noticed the Hospital levy is on page one. That is very good. What is really important, folks.

Interesting headline in the MVNews today. The hospital district will put a $72 million bond measure to the voters on the November 7 ballot.

The bond measure would replace the existing hospital at its current location in Brewster. The hospital district serves about 16,000 residents in north-central Washington.

It appears that the hospital district has done its homework and will make a very specific ask of voters.

I appreciate that there will be comments that a bond measure for a specific project is not the same as a request to establish a taxing district for recreation. Nevertheless, the exercise seems instructive about how to approach voters.

Moreover, this action brings into sharp focus the need for rural investment in basic community infrastructure, not things that would be nice to have.

My vote is baked in. I will be very interested to see the post-election analysis.
