Except that the vast majority of those people "self-deported". Best guess is that half a million self-deported from Texas alone and probably comparable numbers did so in California. Which makes the whole operation not grossly impressive for the time.
And most of the people deported weren't in the country illegally, they were part of the "Bracero" program and came to work in the USA on good faith and with full documentation. It is much easier to run people down if they aren't hiding from the law.
Also, Eisenhower and Truman had competent people working for them who knew how to do their jobs and what those jobs were. And more importantly, how not to do their jobs. I can't say the same for your Orange Sex Criminal.

Re: Avoiding ICE and deportation
Have to respectfully disagree and refer you to the Eisenhower Operation Wetback where 1.3 million illegals were deported in a very short period of time, or even Trumans deportation program where over a million were deported in just over a yearmister_coffee wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 7:09 am The simple fact is that Biden's (and for that matter Obama's) deportation numbers are probably very close to the maximum that is realistically possible without an enormous investment (both in time and money) in increasing Federal Law Enforcement. And you can't probably do that very effectively when you are firing federal employees basically at random -- it doesn't make your organization look like a good career choice.
Americans like to eat (oh lord do they).
Most Americans prefer to live in a building.
Both of those things become much more difficult to accomplish without undocumented people here doing all of the dirty work that most Americans can't or won't do.

Tip #1 'Go back to your own Country'
Well, if only the situation were as simplistic as this. Meanwhile, ICE is grabbing Native Americans, documented Trump supporters, East Indians and people who are here legally. Ending the visas for 250,000 Ukrainians who sought asylum and have been living here peacefully.
All this and the #'s don't point towards anything higher than Biden's admin was already achieving.
