And did El Salvador pay to have them flown there? Glad you are happy. Tell that to the kids that don't get free lunches at school. Tell that to the FS firefighters that we won't have. Tell that to people that are paying for higher food prices.

Haha, I’m in what corner? I’m happy with what’s going on and starting to just laugh at you guy’s freaking outrage. Let me know where you move, I’ll give you updates.

You are in a corner Ken. Admit it. Or let's all figure out a way for you to save face, because that is what it is really about. How much of the taxpayers money paid El Salvador to fly and house those prisnoners, one or a few, that may be there by mistake? First the admin. admitted they made a mistake and now they say they didn't.

Re: Recall 5 years ago?
What is scary to me is that we are likely to be looking at multiple intractable crises happening all at the same time. Such a challenge would be difficult or even impossible for a competent government that cared about its citizens. What this government would do when faced with such a situation would be anyone's guess.
It also worries me is that even a relatively minor crisis might turn catastrophic because we have fired critical government personnel whose job was to deal with exactly such a crisis. Or that some critical government function that nobody knew or cared very much about is not getting done because of all of the chaos.
I note that I'd be very happy if we got through this without major disaster, but I doubt very much we will be that lucky.

Response will be worse. And maybe it is just what we need.

Last time these jerks were in power a million of us died. I wonder what they will do for an encore?
My suspicion is that we will look back fondly on the days we were locked in our homes sterilizing our groceries.

Recall 5 years ago?
.
Five years ago we were in the middle of a VERY confusing response to Covid-19.
Our FELON persdinte - pee pants, hisself - was issuing statements which were often conflicting and nonsensical.
I stole this off FB - it seems like a repeat, 5 years on.
If Trump were Captain of the Titanic:
"There isn't any iceberg.
There was an iceberg but it's in a totally different ocean.
The iceberg is in this ocean but it will melt very soon.
There is an iceberg but we didn't hit the iceberg.
We hit the iceberg, but the damage will be repaired very shortly.
The iceberg is a Chinese iceberg.
We are taking on water but every passenger who wants a lifeboat can get a lifeboat, and they are beautiful lifeboats.
Look, passengers need to ask nicely for the lifeboats if they want them.
We don't have any lifeboats, we're not lifeboat distributors.
Passengers should have planned for icebergs and brought their own lifeboats.
I really don't think we need that many lifeboats.
We have lifeboats and they're supposed to be our lifeboats, not the passengers' lifeboats.
The lifeboats were left on shore by the last captain of this ship.
Nobody could have foreseen the iceberg.
I'm an expert on icebergs I've got lots of friends who deal with icebergs. Some of the best. Really good ice people who know ice and their forms of berginess".
I have little confidence that our National response to ANY emergency will be different.
