I've often wondered if there is some environmental factor driving the measurably higher rates of mental illness we are seeing these days.

It isn't just Trumptards or America either. It doesn't appear to be merely advanced wealthy countries as well. It seems to be a global phenomenon.

As a historical example, the Romans, especially the elite, drank water distributed from lead pipes and ate food off of lead plates and drank wine from lead cups (but also some really cool glass, which of course contained lead). That had to have impacted their health and may have led to their long-term decline.
