Let's be fair I don't think **anyone** currently in federal office imagined themselves being in the position they are now.

No, he's not the right guy to have in their in this situation. But I am also doubtful that any of the people likely to hold office in this country would be equipped to deal with the crisis we are facing. Which is a big part of the problem we are having right now.
