Re: FS 37 and 42,conditions
It was bad last year but this year it was fugly. If that area ever catches on fire write it off as totally destroyed as no way on God's green earth will they be able to get fire suppression crews or vehicles in and out safely be another TRIPOD fire. About only way to fix it is with a big Cat with diggers down followed by something to rake rocks to down hill side followed by a couple rollers to pack it

The upper part of the 42 on the Salmon Creek side (say the last three miles or so) has been ugly for several years.

FS 37 and 42,conditions
For those that might be interested in the condition of these 2 roads from the Valley to Conconelly.
37 isn't too bad a few rough spots but passable even with a passenger car.
42 is a total sh** show, especially from the top down to where it connects to 37 just outside Conconelly, rutted big time, big rocks in the road, narrower than a narrow gauge RR
Went over and back with my SxS and had brush rubbing both sides in places, pushing it to do even 7 mph on 42. Not sure I'd even take a bike on 42. But that's me
Can say glad 42 is not an Evac route, be one heck of a grid lock traffic wise
