Suppression and management of wildland fires in Canada is different than in the US. There, wildland firefighting is almost completely a Provincial responsibility….unlike in the US where it is a combination of Federal and State (and local) resources and responsibility. Provinces in Canada do share resources among each other.

It aggregates fire information, mapping, forecasts, smoke, etc - all in one spot.
Previously, one had to look at each Province’s fire information site.

And this morning even more smoke is filling the valley. The heat of the next couple of days will continue to give us a faster snowmelt as well and of course any ash that lands on the snow will draw in more heat.

This is still May. We are still just at the beginning of transitioning out of El Nino. Whether or not we hit the '16 mark of warmest year globally this one is bound to be hard to live with.
