Flat Creek Fire - Near Stehekin

Newe fire west of Stehekin...

The Flat Creek Fire, a new 3 acre-fire start, south of Glory Mountain and to the east of Rimrock Ridge is currently active in steep, rugged terrain. Smokejumpers flew over the area to for an initial attack but deemed the terrain inaccessible. Fire crews are developing a strategy for controlling the fire. The primary focus remains on the Pioneer and Easy fires.

Crews also assisted in initial attack on the Flat Fire that ignited midday to the west of Stehekin. That fire is in steep and inaccessible terrain to boots-on-the-ground firefighters and was supported by helicopter bucket drops and scooper planes.
