SpaceX performs something over 60 percent of all launches for DOD.

In 2024 SpaceX had 134 Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launches, more than everyone else in the world combined. SpaceX launched 84 percent of satellites that were put in orbit in 2024.

Spacex also performs these launches at lower cost and higher reliability than their competitors.

With all that, SpaceX is ran by someone who is behaving in increasingly erratic ways, has a very murky financial structure, and might also be running into financial trouble (we can't tell but we know Starlink is losing money and Starship development has burnt through most of the capital raised for it which are both bad signs).

Based on all that, I think you can make a national security argument that SpaceX ought to be nationalized. In normal times that would make sense. But who knows...

The fight between Musk and Trump is escalating; Trump saying he wants to cut off Musk's access to the billions he's tapped into in order to develop Starlink and SpaceX and also to denaturalize Musk and deport him back to S Africa. Pretty big threats.

Musk has been blasting the airwaves with criticism against Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, threatened to primary Reps who voted for it, charging that Trump needs to come clean with his involvement with Epstein.

These are pretty big threats from both sides and now Musk is moving forward with the America Party that could be tempting for Reps that are weary of Trump but will never vote for a Dem. Trump will see this as a threat to his rulership directly looking at the midterms. Both of them are narcissistic so they can't back down.

If Trump nationalizes Starlink that will invite all kinds of responses...think of other Silicon Valley techs that would get nervous, like, say, Google.

And actually unless you change how voting is done and how legislative system's rules it is hard to see how we'd end up with anything but a two-party system. One party might replace another over time, though.

Kind of half agree that an alternative party is needed, the 2 we currently have have strayed away from the foundations that made thus country great in putting We The People first and now it is what can we the politicians do to further ourselves. One big problem will be finding 537 like minded people to replace the grifters we have at present, yes 537, 535 in Congress the POTUS and their second in command, notice did not say his or her second in command

Some think things have gotten ugly, much too quickly. But they keep getting uglier.

This is about the 50th 'this is going to get ugly fast' you've said just this year! You are so full of sh** you're eyes are brown, nothing you predict ever happens like you say.
