Large landslide and tsunami in Alaska

Post by mister_coffee »

Well, apparently there was a large landslide (more than 50 million meters^3) that generated a substantial tsunami.

The water, displaced by the landslide and a big chunk of the South Sawyer Glacier, ran up over 500 meters on the opposite side of the fjord.

So not quite as big as the 1958 Lituya Bay wave but still big enough.
