Monday Trump got religion. A certain kind of religion. And he is not only imposing it on America, but the world, and, in war-like terms, he announced the "eradication" of everything else.
Monday's "ceremony" was at the "Museum of the Bible" owned by the Hobby Lobby Green family, with his "White House Religious Liberty Commission". It opened with a benediction from his HUD cabinet secretary, who proclaimed Trump "the anointed" of God.
During his speech, Trump announced that the Education Department would stop the "marginalization of devout students". WHICH devout students? Christian students. The right KIND of Christian students, of course.
Trump whined that crime has not been eliminated in DC only because crime statistics included domestic violence, which he said is "a much lesser thing". It certainly is according to the particular religious group he was with, who are apparently fine "if a man has a little fight" with a wife who does not submit and obey.
Perhaps that is why they are also apparently fine with his divorces and adulteries. And his filthy language. And his convictions in the Stormy Daniels and E Jean Carroll cases, and with protecting him from any consequences of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Trump has seen the light from his former pro-choice days, and will see to the subjugation of women once again, hallelujah!
Trump blamed Joe Biden for everything of course, and accused him of not only being "mean" to Christians, but of "weaponizing" the government against them. Trump, who does not attend church, said this of Biden, a lifelong practicing Catholic.
"People don't realize about the Biden administration. It was a very mean administration. He's a mean guy, actually. Not a smart guy. Never was. But he was a mean guy. He was a mean guy." Trump continued, calling Biden or his administration "mean" or the "meanest" nine times, including for prosecuting the Capitol insurrectionists.
And so, Trump announced he has created "The Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias" and said it would be chaired by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has compiled a new report on the "numerous instances" of past anti-Christian bias and recommendations on "how to protect faith in America".
Not only that. Trump has charged the State Department, which deals with our relationships with other nations around the world, with a new mission. As if alienating friend and foe alike and destroying our trade agreements is not enough, Trump has had Marco Rubio release a statement that TRUMP's America will police other countries' faiths with ICE-like ruthlessness.
This is not about "anti-bias". Trump proved that with his crusade against Diversity Equity and Inclusion regulations, which DID address and prevent anti-bias practices. His eradication of those DEI regulations restored white supremacy.
He now intends to do the same for his powerful political allies and their conservative new evangelical, charismatic, Dominionist and Catholic sects. Those sects reject not only other Christian faiths, but even mainstream sects within their own faiths. This is not "freedom of religion". This is the creation of a new State Religion, the very thing the founders of our Constitution tried to prevent.
