Alright! We rode ebikes up there last week and the road was in pretty good shape, although we did not go to the end. We are planning on exploring at the end of the road this fall.
Another road that is in dire need of repair is the East Fork Buttermilk. It is caving off and acutally should be closed. Would hate to lose that road as it goes to Buttermilk Butte. The firefighters camped out up there, I believe in 2021 and maybe even 2018.

Travel Advisory: Temporary Road Closure Planned for Falls Creek #5140 Road to Repair Damage from Cub2 Fire

Winthrop, WA- (July 31, 2024)- The Methow Valley Ranger District is implementing a temporary road closure of the Falls Creek #5140 road from August 5 to August 23 to repair of damage sustained by the Cub 2 Burn scar.

The closure starts at the junction of the main #5100 Chewuch road and the #5104 Falls Creek road and proceeds for 11.5 miles to its end. This closure will affect access to the Falls Creek Falls viewpoint on road #5140 as well as access to the #518 and #523 trails to Burch Mountain.

Repair work will include re-establishment of drainage features to prevent ongoing damage and erosion to the roadway and stream channels, restoration of a safe road prism and travel way to promote re-stabilization of the landscape.

The main # 5100 West Chewuch Road will remain open to public access during the closure period.

The project is funded through Disaster Relief and the Extending Government Funding and Delivering Emergency Assistance Act of 2021 which provides disaster relief recovery to federal agencies where funds will go to priority road and bridge repair, hazardous material/waste removal, watershed restoration, and other critical recovery needs on National Forest lands.
