Keep in mind that derogatory languages and disinformation is used to demonize, dehumanize and other wise justify exerting control over others who we are made to believe are our enemy . That tactic is used to gain power and control resources for self gain.
That tactic is used in war to inspire good citizens to kill the enemy. It was used in the US during WWII to confiscare property and to place American citizens of Japanese descent into internment camps.
In the case of slavery it was used to de humanize people of African descent in order to justify slavery.
In WWII it was used in Germany to confiscate property, round up people for slave labor until they starve to death and other wise kill people who were non-arians. That included the mass murder 6 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and enemies of the state. The German T4 euthanasia program targeted the "incurably ill, physically or mentally disabled, emotionally distraught, and elderly people."
The list goes on and on throughout history even to our own euthanasia programs designed to kill the indigenous people who's land we confiscated here in the good old USA. Then there's the Vietnam War where our Government drafted good people to kill "the others".
Its no wonder people all over the world push back on Governmental control. We all strongly desire to live free and to live in peace.
Unfortunately now we live in a time where both the extreme left and right try to demonize each other by using those same dehumanizing tactics at their leaders behest. The latest example on the right is trying to demonize and then target transgender citizens.
The result of dehumanizing and bullying Behavior is children model that adult behavior which leads to online and school bullying Behavior. Bullying Behavior strongly correlates to school shootings and suicide by those who suffer mental illness as a result of that bullying.
It has to stop. Thats not going to happen until we adults wise up to the detrimental effects that that dehumanizing behavior creates in our communities and society, especially when amplified online.
Behavioral change is hard. Extending empathy to people who you are made to believe are your enemy is hard.
But that is what has to happen.
And that's why I strongly push back on the poor behavior online.
So let's not call it political correctness, let's call it decency and human kindness.
