The difference from what you are talking about and the rule of law is that nothing Trump can fabricate will be allowed in front of the jury. They will deliberate based on the facts of the case so no amount of political sway based on innuendo or conspiracies will taint the proceeding. Trump won't be the one defending the case, his lawyers will and they are bound to act within the law rather than repeat any of Trump's lies. Just like when we saw Rudy G go before the courts on the 66 J6 trials where he was asked if he was alleging fraud and had he brought the evidence and he said No Your Honor.
Likewise, day after day Trump continues to manufacture more lies and conspiracies that can be used as evidence of his guilt if Jack Smith chooses to use them. Just yesterday, again, he made an admission of guilt about taking and retaining the docs. He's his own worst enemy.
yes, it's obvious that facts rule in a court of law, but not in the court of public opinion which includes all the media speculation that is taken as truth which preceded Trump's Federal indictment.
Imo, it's good to have an understanding of how our bias is used influence us. In the Psychology Today article that I quoted, the author uses the word "May" a few times and that points to speculative bias. That's not how science or a court of law is supposed to work.
However, judges and jury and scientists are human. Science uses a method with statistical analysis to mitigate bias. In a court of law jury selections try to weed out biased jurors. However the judge was appointed randomly and was already overruled, in a decision that favored Trump, in an appeal. There is evidence of bias there.
Its a long process and Trump knows how to convert it all to cash. I don't agree that he's His Own Worst Enemy, he knows what he's doing. He turned down his attorneys suggestion that they try to settle with the DOJ. Trump seems to want this trial. It keeps him in the news front and center.
As David stated, grab your popcorn and sit back and watch the show. In other words don't let it affect the joyful quality of your life. Life is just too short. I really don't care what the outcome of this trial is. In vastness of the universe this whole show is a speck of dust.

$6.6 million -
And will it go towards his legal defense fund? If so that'll probably cover just a week's worth of costs.
most likely his supporters will be paying his legal bills for the Federal case. Since Trump is a victim, they will pay gladly.

The psychology of why many conservatives support Trump in linked below. Trump knows human behavior and how to use our biases to achieve his goals. So do other politicians and product advertisers.
My problem with this article is that, while the studies that it's based on may have mitigated bias through statistical analysis, the bias of the author has to be considered.
I also believe that all human behavior exists on a spectrum and we all have varying amounts of these traits that influence our behavior.

"For some wealthy people, it’s simply a financial matter.
"Donald Trump is unique in his ability to keep the brain engaged. While Hillary Clinton could only hold attention for so long, Trump kept both attention and emotional arousal high throughout the viewing session."
"the loyalty of Trump supporters may in part be explained by America’s addiction to entertainment and reality TV.
"Some people are supporting Trump simply to be rebellious or to introduce chaos into the political system."
"Science has shown that the conservative brain has an exaggerated fear response"
"Fear keeps his followers energized and focused on safety. "
"The Dunning-Kruger effect explains that the problem isn’t just that they are misinformed; it’s that they are completely unaware that they are misinformed, which creates a double burden"

Today I heard that Trump was not interested in having his lawyers work out a deal with the DOJ prior to his Federal indictment. It's almost as if he wanted to be indicted for some reason. Hmmm.. Lets see..
One day ago his campaign reported that he raised 6.6 millions since the Federal indictment. Wonder what the total is today?

too funny that Jeff is on substack. It doesn't matter that the Biden story was made up. You and I know it was a smokescreen to cover Trumps pending Federal indictment, but Maga will still believe it, so that story did its job. And there's nothing you're going to do to convince them otherwise.
Trump is a master of knowing how to deliver his message. He knows human Psychology very well and how to use it to achieve his goals.

You win the prize Pearl!
Staying with the ridiculous, the story of the Rep failed Biden conspiracy with the alleged tapes just died.

And then the guy who went to a restaurant in Little Havana after his stopover for arraignment at the Miami courthouse walked into the restaurant and announced food for everyone! After the crowd sang happy birthday to him, a day early, he then exited without paying the bill.

I know right. This news is bigger than all the other Trump news out there. You might say it trumps Trump News. Sorry Jim I got this internet copy and paste scoop first. Ok, its an old story but they owned him when he was forced to admit that, right. Another pound of flesh for the BB left's (and Ray's) schadenfreude fix.

In other news. The Trump campaign reported 6.6 million dollars in new donations since his Federal Indictment.
