The old ways are gone-meats in a counter, then wrapped in butcher paper.
IGA in Okangon still does, at least the individual meats in the counter
In regards to reusable bags my better half weaves and makes our bags, talk about sturdy

Unfortunately for all of us, not just the west siders, plastic is in all our bodies' organs. It arrives in vegetables and meat that are wrapped in plastic and plastic sheds into anything that is stored in it. And of course once used, we toss wrappings into the garbage where it goes into giant landfills, arrives on beaches, creates islands of garbage in the sea, kills all kinds of animals. Plastic is also made from oil, so it's a money maker for BigOil. Obviously there's no political will to really dig into how to remove plastic from our lives and find a safe replacement, but that doesn't mean we should have a president who thumbs his nose at even the smallest of efforts.

Here's more information from the medical side: https://www.aamc.org/news/microplastics ... she%20says.

PAL wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:12 pm Plastic garbage bags can be used over and over again. The sturdy ones we use, we've had about 5 yrs. (4 of them) Just air them out. Not bad. We don't have weekly garbage service but go to the dump twice a year.
The alternative is to use paper bags and just haul them to the dump or weekly service.
Plastic is so everywhere in many products.
Pearl totally agree plastic is everywhere and banning items such as plastic straws and grocery sacks is inconsequential in the total scheme of the supposed saving the planet.
i.e. You go to the store, you buy meat, wrapped in plastic, you buy produce, placed in plastic bags, you but dry goods packed in plastic liners in cardboard boxes, you buy bread wrapped in plastic. you buy milk, water, sodas all packed in plastic, Yet they ban the plastic grocery sacks that even the light weight flimsy ones can be reused/ repurposed,. Someone had their head up their _-- when they decided plastic grocery sacks and straws were the culprits of pollution, but hey guess they gotta start somewhere

If you live on the west side, plastic in your organs and brain helps keep them from rusting and seizing up!!!

I am sure, if a history for this dark time is ever written, they will speculate that some kind of chemical toxin addled the brains of hundreds of millions of people.

Maybe from plastic straws. Although I'd bet on a food additive.

Plastic is not ok. Period. It's production uses oil, thus lining the pockets of BigOil. But beyond that the residue, microplastics are now inside all our organs, including our brains. Stop using plastic
