Pal, in this case it is highly probably as well as knowable that the PNW will experience the impacts directly of not just one event but multiple events. AI can't fix this. OSHA has also seen its rules, regulations and history taken offline so one could argue that the rules that could prevent a Hanford event have been tossed as well.

We've been lucky over the years to have the BPA in operation; power outages have become fewer and getting the grid back up when there's an outage has seen a faster response. At the very least that can't be the case going forward.

One other thing that hits our congressional district where it lives, the reckless and insane NNSA cuts directly effect the safety measures being taken at Hanford. Things look chaotically screwed up at the NNSA (National Nuclear Safety Administration) at this time. They are attempting to rehire at least some people they fired but apparently they also deleted the contact information for those people so they can't even contact them and beg them to come back to their critical and essential jobs.

If there is some kind of unfortunate accident at Hanford a large portion of the agricultural production of the state is probably off the market for an indefinite period. Such an accident would also have enormous impacts on hundreds of thousands of people in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. A good first step to keep such a catastrophe from happening is to keep the people whose job it is to prevent it on the job.

We've given a four-year-old a chainsaw here. It is just a matter of time before something really bad happens.

According to the BPA, about 200 workers resigned after accepting a federal buyout. An additional 90 job offers were rescinded. Late Thursday, sources said more than 100 new workers were fired.
